    WRINKLE REMEDIES

    Botox®

Your first line of defense against fine lines and wrinkles on the face and neck, Botox® works to soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles by relaxing the muscles that cause contractions under the skin's surface.  Especially beneficial for treating frown and lip lines, crow's feet and other facial wrinkles, Botox® results last for up to four to six months.  No anesthesia is required, although local anesthsia is available if desired. Best of all, there is no downtime with Botox®. And in fact, many of our clients come in for their treatments on their lunch break and head right back to work following the procedure. Botox® is suitable for all clients of all ethnicities, including African-Americans, Asians and Latinos, as well as men.

    Dermal Fillers
At MD Rejuvenation Clinic, we use Artefill™, Restylane®, Parlane® Juvederm® and Radiesse® to refine crevices on the face or inflate hollowed cheeks and lips for a sultry pout. Dermal fillers such as these work by adding volume under the surface of the skin to plump up lines, creases, and folds from the inside out for a younger, softer appearance. Depending on which product is best for you, the effects can last four to 12 months. It has been shown that dermal fillers used in conjunction with Botox® provide the best results and tend to last. Unlike Botox®, local anesthesia is often necessary for the injection of fillers. However, some clients opt to forgo the anesthesia. There may be some local bruising and swelling at the injection site, which is often transient. Dermal fillers are also suitable for clients of all ethnicities and men and women alike.

    Laser Skin Resurfacing

    Collagen Remodeling

As we begin to age, we produce fewer and fewer collagen cells, ultimately, resulting in wrinkles. Collagen remodeling works to naturally stimulate collagen production by the body. Collagen, which is just beneath the skin's surface has a filling effect that, in turn, stretches and smoothes the skin above it. This aspect of laser skin resurfacing uses two distinct laser technologies. One is non-ablative skin resurfacing and the other is ablative skin resurfacing. Both technologies also come in two different modalities. One is non-fractionated whereas the other is fractionated. Non-fractionated, non-ablative skin resurfacing will take the longest time to show results which tend to be rather subtle. This procedure takes about 30 to 45 minutes for a full face without need for anesthesia. There is no downtime after this procedure. On the other end is fractionated ablative resurfacing which has the most spectacular results in the least amount of time. There is need for topical or injectable local anesthetic. There is an associated period of downtime which may range from as few as three days to as long as a week or longer depending on depth of ablation.

Ablative skin resurfacing is great for wrinkles and scars. It also improves the appearnce of age spots and other skin discoloration.

    MicroLaser Peel

This laser technology shaves off the top layer of the skin to varying depths to achieve resurfacing effect. The result is revitalized skin within a few days. The visual effect would be the equivalent to five to ten medical grade microdermabrasions done at once. The results are most impressive when combined with ablative fractional resurfacing at the same seating.

    SKIN REVITALIZATION

    Microdermabrasion

    Before Dermabrasion

Considered the new full-body facial in some circles, this popular, non-invasive treatment can be performed on any part of the face and body, including hands, arms, legs and chest. MD Rejuvenation Clinic uses the Parisian Peel technology which uses the well-known crystal method of blasting away dead surface skin cells and a newer crystal-free method using diamond metal tips. Our professionally trained staff will help you determine which method will work best for you.

    Immediately After

Microdermabrasion improves rough skin texture, mild scarring, uneven pigmentation, superficial brown spots, acne, blackheads and stretch marks. Microdermabrasion combined with a chemical peel is known as a Micropeel. Micropeels are an integral part of our acne treatment program under the umbrella of ClearConcept®  and can be  safely performed on all skin types.

    PhotoFacials
Capture and reduce the appearance of age spots, sun damage, broken capillaries, Rosacea and uneven skin tone with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL™). We use the Prolite II and the Sciton Profile (BBL) at MD Rejuvenation Clinic. Not strictly a laser procedure, a PhotoFacial is a  gentle and non-invasive treatment that applies intense pulsed light to the sub-surface layers of the skin for gradually noticeable results with few side effects and no downtime. Strict adherence to daily sunscreen application after IPL is advised. For best results, these treatments should be done on skin without a noticeable tan. Indeed IPL is most suited for fair skin type individuals. We have carefully performed this procedure on some clients of color (including Asians and Latinos) with lighter complexions, although most tend not to have the conditions targeted by IPL.

     443-283-0600

    Chemical Peels
Go deep and unveil your very best with a customized chemical peel. Available in varying strengths of the exfoliating chemicals, a chemical peel penetrates the skin to improve skin texture and tone, minimize pores and scars, refine fine lines and clarify problem skin to reveal a natural glow. Most peels can be done on the face, neck, hands, arms, legs and chest, and are specially tailored to your skin type and condition. No down time and safe on all skin types for women and men.

     443-283-0600

    Facials
We offer several different types of the most popular spa facials. Although gentler and less aggressive than a chemical peel, our facials help revitalize the skin. Best of all, because facials are not a medical-grade procedure, they can be done without an initial consultation with our physician. Our professional aestheticians will evaluate your skin and advise you of the facial treatment that will best suit your skin type. Facials are safe for all skin types.

    Scar Treatments
Acne is the most common cause of facial scarring. Fortunately, the appearance of unsightly acne and trauma scars, sun spots and dark marks and spots (as commonly seen in African-Americans and other clients with darker complexions) can be improved. MD Rejuvenation Clinic has an array of individualized treatments and procedures to treat such scars including collagen remodeling using lasers, color manipulation with Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT).  Fractional Resurfacing is most effective for scar revision. Tattoo and surgical scar removal is also available.

    Acne Treatments

Say bye-bye to bothersome acne on the face and body and emerge anew. Mission accomplished with our laser procedures, light treatments, prescription medications and at-home skin care products.

MD Rejuvenation Clinic's acne treatment program is aimed at: 1.) Reducing the size of the oil producing gland to lessen oil production, 2.) Killing bacteria using specialized Omnilux®) blue light. The Omnilux® red light is used to reduce inflammation and soothe the skin. Prescription antibiotics are also prescribed on a case by case basis. 3.) Revitalizing the skin using microdermabrasions and chemical peels to allow the oils to flow to the surface easily by opening up the clogged pores, 4.) Supportive home maintenance using prescription-strength skin care products (including Bellederm™, Obagi™ and Vivite™) and 5.) Hormone manipulation, if necessary.

In some stubborn cases, we use a light treatment combined with a chemical peel using aminolevulinic acid (Levulan) in a process called photodynamic therapy (PDT).

    ClearConcept® Acne Program

MD Rejuvenation Clinic is an exclusive territorial provider of the ClearConcept Acne Program. This is an intense treatment program that requires strict compliance and discipline. Our experience has shown that acne patients who come to us have tried many other treatment regimens to no avail and tend to be highly motivated individuals who adhere to the program with discipline and, therefore, see marked improvement.

    Spider Vein Treatments
Laser energy and sclerotherapy, injections of chemicals to close off veins, are the ideal treatments for removing unsightly spider veins from the face, legs and other parts of the body. Spider veins (strictly speaking, capillaries) can be red, purplish or blue.

Red veins are treated using our Elite® laser. This laser targets the red pigment (hemoglobin) and breaks it up while closing the capillary at the same time. In as few as two treatments done three to four weeks apart, many of our clients' veins disappear.

For blue and purplish veins, we use the MedioStar XT diode laser. "The Mediostar XT is also our workhorse for laser hair removal" says Clement Banda, MD.

Both blue and red veins can be treated with bipolar radiofrequency (RF). We use the Surgitron by Ellman International. This is a most versatile piece of surgical equipment used in a variety of cosmetic procedures including but not limited to skin thightening and skin tag removal at MD Rejuvenation Clinic.

The most recent addition to the armour of lasers at our facility is the Elite™. This is by far the best laser on the market for laser hair removal and vein treatments. It is indeed a combination of two lasers in one. An Alexandrite 755-nm and an Nd:YAG 1064-nm. The alexandrite is used for vein treatments in caucasians while the Nd:YAG is for vein treatments in darker ethnic skin types (including African American, Indian, Pacific Islander, Asian and similar). There is no down time after vein treatments.

Larger blue veins (varicose veins) are usually treated using sclerotherapy. Most clients will require several sessions of sclerotherapy done every few weeks until desired results are achieved. Sclerotherapy is an invasive surgical procedure that we perform selectively.

    Skin care Products
Maintenance is everything. We offer a full line of skin care products to help maintain healthy and great-looking skin at home.  Our comprehensive line includes of prescription skin care products includes Obagi™,  Vivite™ and Remergent  prescription-strength skin care products. During your consultation we will carefully evaluate your skin and any conditions that may be present and prescribe an appropriate home care regimen.

MD Rejuvenation Clinic is also a proud carrier of Colorescience™, the most popular line of mineral cosmetics. Also known as cosmeceuticals, mineral cosmetics are the ultimate cosmetic product for natural, healthy-looking skin as they do not block the healthy pores of the skin like some cosmetics, that can lead to break-outs and other irritations. Colorescience™ is available in our office in a wide range of shades appropriate for all skin types.

    Laser Hair Removal
Banish unwanted hair from your face and body with cutting-edge laser technology. Laser energy is used to stun the hair root and reduce re-growth for extended periods. Although popularly known as hair removal, this laser process is strictly hair reduction. There is no laser machine out there that will completely remove hair. However, there tends to be enough reduction that there is an appearance of complete removal to the naked eye. Ideal for removing unwanted hair from the face, bikini area, underarms, back, and all other parts of the body. This is achieved with a series of treatments performed every four to six weeks. As a general rule about  six treatments will be adquate for people with a fair complexion (Fitzgerald skin type I through III) and about eight for those with darker complexions (Asian, Latino and African Americans with skin types IV through VI).

The most recent addition to the armour of lasers at our facility is the Elte™. This is by far the best laser on the market for laser hair removal and vein treatments. It is indeed a combination of two lasers in one. An Alexandrite 755-nm and an Nd:YAG 1064-nm. The Alexandrite is used for hair removal in caucasians while the Nd:YAG is for hair removal in darker ethnic skin types (including African American, Indian, Pacific Islander, Asian and similar). Unlike older technologies, this is virtually painless and can be used on tanned skin. It used to be you had to wait until the fall and winter for hair removal. No more!

However, other factors such as the color and density of hair play an important role. The lighter the skin and the darker the hair the easiest it is to remove.

    FAT TREATMENTS

    Mesotherapy
Finally, an answer to unsightly cellulite. Mesotherapy is the ideal solution for problem areas like the thighs and buttocks. This break-through procedure reduces cellulite and improves overall circulation through the injection of medications and vitamins into the middle layer of the skin (mesoderm). Unlike other invasive surgical procedures, Mesotherapy has few side effects, only mild bruising, redness and soreness at the injection site, and requires no recovery time. For best results, a series of weekly treatments over 6-8 weeks is recommended along with an exercise and diet regimen. 443-283-0600

    Lipodissolve
Love handles, double chin, abdominal fat, eye pads (commonly known as bags) and other small accumulations of fat are no more with Lipodissolve (injection lipolysis). Through  the injections of medications into the fat layer of the skin, small accumulations of fat are dissolved. Both Mesotherapy and Lipodissolve use similar medications, though constituted differently. To achieve the best results, we recommend bi-weekly treatments. Eye pads will need one or two treatments. All other areas will need anywhere from four to 12 treatments depending on the desired endpoint. The endpoint is reduction in one's size. Generally clients will lose anywhere from one to three inches depending on the total number of treatments and the original excess fat one started with. "Lipodissolve does not cause weight loss per se", cautions Clement Banda, MD. However correctly done any fat reduction treatment ought to be combined with lifestyle  modification in the form of a weight reduction dietary program and a regular exercise regimen. MD Rejuvenation Clinic runs a weight management program. We have partnered with Metagenics for the weight management and nutritional supplement program. 443-283-0600

    Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT™)
Dimpled or uneven skin is a nagging problem for many women - even those who work hard to keep fit. Through Acoustic Wave Therapy (AWT™), women can achieve firmer, smoother skin in the areas where cellulite commonly forms -- the thighs, buttocks, abdomen and arms. MD Rejuvenation Clinic is one of the first medical practices in the United States to offer this cutting-edge therapy.

While cellulite can be traced to genetics, hormones and lifestyle, the problem's immediate cause is the accumulation of lipids in the fat cells. Swelling from lipid accumulation exerts pressure on the circulatory system, causing a slowdown both in the intake of nutrients and the drainage of waste products. Poor exchanges lead to a gradual stiffening of the connective tissue, which shortens as it stiffens, pulling the skin down. At the same time, the clusters of enlarged fat cells pull the skin up. The consequence of this push/pull mechanism is the appearance of cellulite.

Many different treatments for cellulite have been introduced over the years, most with poor results. Now, Acoustic Wave Therapy™ represents an important breakthrough in the effective reduction of visible cellulite. Initial clinical study results show that AWT™ patients typically experience improvement in skin texture, improvement in skin elasticity, dermal firming and circumference reduction.

At MD Rejuvenation Clinic, clients are treated twice per week for three weeks, with sessions typically requiring less than 30 minutes. Additional treatments are necessary for about 20 percent of clients. We recommended AWT clients receive a single maintenance session once every three months upon completing the initial program.

    SmartLipo™

SmartLipo was the first and to date the most tested laser for liposuction. Also called laser lipolysis, this technology represents the latest method for removing unwanted fat. The technique has been used in Europe and South America for the several years. However, it is its introduction into the US market that has widely popularized laser assisted liposuction. The laser is used to rapidly dissolve fat before suctioning it out. Indeed most physicians do suction the melted fat out but one does not have to, particularly for very small accumulations of fat. Smartlipo lipolysis is an office based procedure and does not require the use of a general anesthetic.

Who is a candidate for SmartLipo?

SmartLipo is an excellent technique for removal of fat from difficult areas of the body. In general, anyone who has ever considered liposuction ought to talk to a Smartlipo physician. Whereas the conventional teaching is to reserve laser lipolysis for small accumulations of fat, MD Rejuvenation Clinic uses Smartlipo as an adjunct to other treatments for fat reduction. We use laser lipolysis to refine results of concomitantly performed traditional liposuction for a select group of patients who would otherwise not be candidates for laser assisted liposuction. Therefore, anyone who our physicians feel can benefit from liposuction and can withstand the procedure as determined at the initial consultation will be accepted

Which area is SmartLipo useful for?

SmartLipo was designed as a stand alone technique to treat localized pockets of fat from just about anywhere on the body. Again, when creatively used in conjunction with suction assisted liposuction (SAL), power assisted liposuction (PAL) or ultrasound assisted liposuction (UAL), laser lipolysis can be used to treat much larger areas as part of liposculpture. Liposculpture is the term adopted to refer to the art and science of reshaping the body by using fat removal, fat transfer and injection of inert substances such as silicone among other techniques..

Who is not a candidate for SmartLipo?

Like most elective cosmetic procedures that are not meant to be life sustaining, Smartlipo should not be performed on those of ill health or significant chronic disease. However, the best thing to do is consult with a SmartLipo physician before denying oneself this otherwise very satisfying procedure. We have done this procedure on people with diabetes, hypertension and other chronic disease processes.

    Are the results permanent?

The fat cells that are removed are gone permanently. We do not form any new fat cells after our teen age years.  However, worth of note is that not all fat cells are removed during the procedure. It is simply technically impossible to do so and one should not aim to. Therefore, by maintaining close to the ideal body weight, the new post-Smartlipo shape ought to be maintained. If one gains weight however, the remaining fat cells in the treated area will get bigger merely by storing more fat. But then again, the untreated areas will get even bigger. In short, the results will always show albeit relative to the rest of the body..

    How is the procedure done?

The procedure is done under local anesthesia in a special anesthetic technique developed three decades ago called tumescent anesthesia. A large volume of a very dilute mixture of saline (or other similar fluid) and Lidocaine (or Novocaine) is pumped into the area to be treated. The laser is then introduced into the space through several small incisions. As the laser fiber is moved back and forth through the fat layer just below the skin it destroys fat cells. This is continued for a while to an end point determined by the physician. What happens beyond this point has been a source of confusion. Just about all practitioners in the US will suction out the fat and anesthetic fluid after the laser procedure. This allows for instant gratification on the part of the surgeon and the patient alike. However, even if there is no suctioning, as may be the case outside the US, the result will be a new body shape as the body eventually gets rid of both the anesthetic fluid and the destroyed fat cells. The laser helps tighten the overlying skin by stimulating new collagen formation over several months. In fact, those accepted as candidates for this procedure should not need a tummy tuck after their Smartlipo.  Smartlipo causes small blood vessels to coagulate (clot off) immediately on contact, resulting in less bleeding and swelling. However, Smartlipo is not truly lunch time liposuction. All these steps do take time. One should realistically plan on spending up to several hours on the operating table. At MD Rejuvenation Clinic we operate on a maximum of three to four body areas at any one sitting. That translates into a maximum of about four hours or just over.

    What is the recovery like?

The majority of patients have minimal bruising and are pain free. A compression garment is used for several weeks after the procedure both to help reduce swelling and to help mould the body into the targeted new shape. We suggest people take the next day off work but to take a walk and resume all activity. Most will be back at work on the second day after the procedure.

When do I see the results

The change in body shape is immediate but one continues to improve for 6 to 12 months. However, skin tightening is not immediate but rather gradual. Just like it is with traditional liposuction, there may be need for touch up procedures months after Smartlipo. Typically physicians will wait at least six months before attempting this. Smartlipo is a form of liposuction. It is traditionally a one time procedure. However, for large areas, your physician may choose to stage into several sessions over some months.

    SmartLipo Cost

The cost for SmartLipo and other forms of laser lipolysis varies by region and in some cases from city to city. Published costs seem to range from $2000 to $5000 per body area. Indeed several areas done at the same time will raise the total price but also tends to translate into lower total cost than the total cost for procedures done at different seatings. In the final analysis your decision to have this procedure done by any one physician should probably not depend on cost alone.
